Essential Building materials for your construction needs

A good home deserves quality construction materials. While there are a lot of big and small things which together make up for turning your dream home real, the basic five which needs to be well thought of and analyzed are TMT Bars, Cement, Concrete, Bricks and Wood. Procuring these materials in good quality is an essential component of any construction or building structure.

Good quality of these building materials ensures more durability and longevity in construction. Therefore it is critical to be wise while making construction and raw materials purchases and should be done after a thorough background check on the essential parameters of these raw materials and building materials.

A construction is incomplete without any of the below mentioned elements. These building materials mark the basic of all building structures:

TMT bars form the backbone of all construction structures; may it be home, commercial buildings of big infrastructure. Manufacturing of TMT bars is a process involving a series of steps like casting, hot rolling, , quenching and cooling. The German technology – Thermex is the preferred procedure for manufacturing these bars. The final process makes TMT bars develop a hard outer surface and a soft inner core. This property gives TMT bars a good bendability, tensile strength and fatigue strength. This ascertains the grade i.e. the strength of the TMT barsUsing good quality bars like 24K TMT provides durability and strength to the construction. The bars also have the cross ribbed structure which helps in better adhesion to concrete and cement. Bars are also segregated based on various grades like Fe 500, Fe 500D, Fe 550 Fe550 D which denote different tensile strength and ductility. The latest technology has been supportive to make these bars corrosion resistant and seismic resistant.

Bricks:

Bricks are the most basic and important raw material for any construction.  Bricks in a way are the most essential of all the construction materials used for home or any other commercial or big infrastructure. The bricks can be of different types depending on where they are used. They can be light weight with hollow cavities or totally solid depending on where they are used. Traditionally there are two types of bricks – fired and non-fired.

Bricks are made by burning mud, clay or ceramic material in a kiln at a very high temperature. After this procedure of high heating, bricks then undergo a drying process, which makes them brittle. Bricks are used to make walls, pavements and other elements in masonry construction. Bricks are placed upon each other to create the structure or walls etc. and reinforced with cement or any adhesive material.

Cement:

Cement is an important raw material in construction, something which cannot be replaced or done away by all means. Cement is often mixed with sand for binding the bricks or TMT bars together. Good TMT bars are cross-ribbed so that they have better adhesion to cement or concrete. Cement is a binder and is an integral construction need.

Market has many cement players with presence across India or just regional; with price of cement being competitive enough. Selecting a cement brand is a matter of many factors like price, availability and reach etc.

Concrete:

Concrete, a composite material is made up of fine and coarse aggregate bonded together with liquefied cement. Mixing aggregates with dry Portland cement and water forms fluid slurry or a liquid mixture which is usually poured or filled and molded accordingly as per the required shape. The cement that acts as a binder for making concrete reacts with the water and other ingredients to form a hard material, which is then used for making up the structure. In short, concrete is a combination of aggregate composites and a binder, which is generally cement. Concrete has low tensile strength that is complimented by reinforcing them on TMT bars for a strengthened and durable structure.

Wood:

Wood is amongst the other necessary raw material which needs to be checked and selected according to the utility. There are N numbers of wood varieties. Wood can range from timber, teak, oak to many others. Timber wood is by large often used for homes and buildings. Wood is generally used for building the framework like beams, walls, doors, and floors etc. Off late, engineered wood products are also becoming a bigger part of the construction industry.
